Niko Rubio’s approach to songwriting is distinctly her own, often freestyling in the booth the moment inspiration strikes. With her soulful voice, sharp wordplay, and vivid storytelling, she creates music that deeply resonates with listeners. Beyond her own artistry, she has become a sought-after songwriter, contributing to recent releases including “Purple Irises” by Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton, “True Babe” and “Marigolds” by Gwen Stefani, and “Ego,” “Kerosene”, and “MORE” by The Warning, “4ever,” “butterflies,” and “never gonna c u again” from Natalie Jane’s album, as well as “EL NENE” by Anuel AA and Foreign Teck.
As an artist, Niko recently released her EP Sunday Girl, featuring standout track “Pink Starburst.” She previously released the EP Ring Ring, whose title track features Zuri Marley. Much like her third EP, Mar y Tierra, these projects blend traditional Mexican instrumentation with the influence of her California upbringing, drawing inspiration from artists such as Gwen Stefani, Julieta Venegas, and early Shakira. Both projects were executive produced by Lester Mendez, known for his work with Shakira, Santana, and Nelly Furtado.
